What you will be able to do
- ✓ Navigate ICAO Annex 14 Volume I and its companion documents, and determine the aerodrome reference code for a given fleet.
- ✓ Check runway width, runway strip and runway end safety area dimensions against Annex 14, and compare options when land is short.
- ✓ Apply taxiway separation logic and test an object against the obstacle limitation surfaces, including the changes due on 21 November 2030.
- ✓ Recognise the main markings, lights and signs, and build a runway condition report using the Global Reporting Format.
- ✓ Explain aerodrome certification and the aerodrome manual under ICAO, Regulation (EU) No 139/2014, 14 CFR Part 139 and UAE CAR Part IX, and handle a deviation with a safety assessment.
- ✓ Draw the lessons of TSB report A05H0002 (Air France Flight 358, Toronto) for runway end safety areas and the terrain beyond them.
