What you will be able to do

  • ✓ Explain the PBN concept, the difference between RNAV and RNP specifications, and how accuracy, integrity, continuity and total system error define navigation performance.
  • ✓ Match each ICAO navigation specification, from RNAV 10 to RNP AR APCH, to its accuracy, sensors, functions and phase of flight, and apply the half, one and two times RNP tolerances.
  • ✓ Describe how GNSS, SBAS and GBAS support PBN, and decide which line of LPV, LNAV/VNAV or LNAV minima can be used when augmentation or temperature limits apply.
  • ✓ Trace a procedure from design to the navigation database, recognise path terminator and altitude-constraint traps, and draw the lessons of ATSB investigation AO-2016-124.
  • ✓ Apply the airworthiness, operational approval and airspace requirements, including CS-ACNS, Part-SPA RNP AR approval and the dates of Regulation (EU) 2018/1048.
  • ✓ Recognise GNSS jamming and spoofing and plan resilient operations and dispatch decisions in line with EASA SIB 2022-02.
