Description

The Airspace cabin is a modular interior architecture developed by Airbus [Airbus] to standardise the passenger experience across its commercial aircraft family. Launched to bring consistency between wide-body and narrow-body fleets, the design focuses on four pillars: comfort, ambience, service, and design. It replaces previous interior generations by introducing sculpted sidewalls, integrated LED lighting systems, and reconfigured lavatories to maximise usable floor space and perceived volume within the airframe. Airbus [Airbus] markets this interior as a line-fit option for new aircraft and a retrofit solution for existing operators. Primary adopters include major international carriers such as Lufthansa [Lufthansa], JetBlue, and Qatar Airways [القطرية]. The system is standard for the A350 and A330neo, and has been adapted for the A320neo family to provide a consistent brand identity for airlines operating multi-type fleets. Sales are typically bundled with airframe procurement contracts rather than sold as third-party aftermarket kits. Risk factors involve the long-term reliability of the complex electronic lighting controls and the durability of the lightweight composite materials used in the XL overhead bins. The Aerospace Garage desk would seek to verify specific weight savings achieved per airframe compared to classic interiors and the current backlog for retrofit installations on legacy A320ceo aircraft. Documentation regarding the certification of the 'Single-Aisle' Airspace variant against latest crashworthiness and evacuation standards is also required.
