  SmartSky ATG is a private air-to-ground connectivity network designed to provide high-bandwidth, low-latency internet to aircraft flying over the continental United States. The system uses a proprietary 4G and 5G LTE-based architecture, differing from traditional satellite-based Wi-Fi by utilising a dense network of ground base stations that communicate directly with hardware installed on the aircraft belly. It was developed to address the lag and capacity constraints often found in legacy cellular-based aviation networks. The hardware and service are primarily sold to business aviation operators, including owners of light jets, turboprops, and large-cabin long-range aircraft. The technology is distributed through a network of authorised dealers and MRO centres that manage the physical installation. The company markets the system as a premium alternative to existing narrow-band ATG solutions.
