Fraunhofer IFAM Aerospace Automation

Fraunhofer IFAM, the Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials in Bremen, runs one of Europe's larger applied programmes in robotic automation for aircraft production. Its aerospace work covers automated surface treatment, adhesive bonding, sealing and mobile robot platforms that move along large airframe structures rather than being fixed to a cell. The institute works directly with airframers and tier suppliers, taking processes from laboratory demonstration to production readiness.
